Food Handling Gloves
The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act was introduced in 2011 and aims to prevent foodborne illnesses and food contamination. Food handling gloves have been certified under the FDA Title 21 CFR Part 177 which states that the components of the gloves must adhere to the FDA regulations. These must be made from substances that have been recognized to be safe for use while packaging food. The safety and quality of disposable food handling gloves need to be tested. There is a control over the raw materials, factory compliance and the manufacturing processes while manufacturing food handling gloves. Why is it important to use a food glove while handling food items?

Antimicrobial vinyl gloves prevent the spread of bacteria thereby preventing contamination. These provide a better dexterity to the wearers. Vinyl gloves are ideal when employees need to grasp the exact amount of any item to garnish any dish.
Why are nitrile or latex gloves not desirable?
The consumers and end users can develop latex allergies. Although latex gloves offer comfort, these gloves can transfer latex proteins to food items and this may result in allergies in consumers. Nitrile gloves are latex free but the price of these gloves prevent their application in an industry where gloves need to be used often for preventing contamination.
